More Ferry Rides from Playa Del Carmen
During this season of holidays about to begin, the services of maritime crossings between Cozumel and Playa del Carmen are increased with four new scheduled crossings, which now will be 16 routes that will serve to connect the island with the solid continental one.
From this Friday the increase in the daily routes of crossings was registered between Cozumel and Playa del Carmen, being increased to 16, this in consequence that the holidays are about to begin, which represents a greater demand on the part of the users that desire to be transferred to the solid continent.
These routes will be in force through January 4, 2007, by means of an agreement between the two shipping businesses that offer the service of crossings and Apiqroo; an increment that has become a custom in each vacation season.
The schedules of Cozumel to Playa del Carmen in which these two businesses will be giving service are at 5 o'clock, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 in the morning; at 12 o'clock mid-day, and in the afternoons at 1pm, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, and for the nights at 7, 8 and 10.
While of Playa del Carmen to Cozumel, the crossings will start at 6 o'clock, 8, 9, 10 and 11 in the morning; at 12 o'clock mid-day, as well as 1pm, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in the afternoon, and the nocturnal schedules will be at 7, 8, 9 and finally at 11 o'clock at night.
Likewise, at least to December 31, they will continue this experimental program of new schedules and prices, leaving Cozumel at 8:30am, 11:30am, 5pm and 8pm at night. While from Playa del Carmen this service will be available at 10am, 1pm and 6:30pm and finally at 9:30pm at night.
This temporary service will consider a 30 pesos ticket cost for children and of 45 pesos for adults.
Crossings are not simply for tourists demand. Cozumelenos need to go to Cancun just to shop for Christmas; the selections of anything of value are quite limited for the general population.
