The Counsel of Tourist Promotion of the island invested more than $1.5 Million dollars in positioning again the image of Cozumel in the international markets after the disasterous hurricanes of 2005; the management of this image included new announcements in diverse types of media, new logos and emphasis in markets that offer an interesting future to the island.
The director of the Trust of Tourist Promotion of Cozumel, Ra?rrufo Gonzᬥz, yielded Tuesday its annual report of activities during a breakfast to which was invited the representatives of the tourism sector of the island and the state secretary of tourism, Gabriela Rodriguez Gᬶez.
During the event a promotional video of the island with the diverse commercials that have been produced to raise the image of Cozumel was presented.
Details of material published in diverse specialized magazines and the new advertising mottos were presented, a campaign that is resulting, according to the counsel, very successful abroad.
In the report, Ra?rrufo explained that they have invested in promotion resources, a total of a $1.6 million dollars, which was reflected in the fact that in spite of the hurricanes, "not any airline service was lost" of the ones that already serving the destiny, permitting to foretell that for the next year there will be an increase in hotel occupation of an additional seven percent to that observed in the year 2004; last year of reference before "Emily" and of "Wilma".
It was reported also that the hotel room offeringa was increased by nine percent and for the next year will include 350 thousand airline seats available for travel to the island.
Finally, it was announced that for the next year will open their doors in Cozumel a new, luxury boutique hotel and that the hotel rates in the island have been increased.
It wAS brought to light also that 60 percent of the tourists of hotels come to the island in regular scheduled flights of lines and not in flights of low cost wholesalers, as in other destinies.
