Cruise in Cozumel - The season returns!

Five cruise ships will arrive at the island of Cozumel this Wednesday, occupying all the positions of available mooring for ships of this size and for the first time since last April 25, a cruiser will anchor in the rada of the island and will disembark its passengers by means of smaller ships, called "tenders".

The presence of some 12,500 people, calculating 2,500 by ship; would represent for Cozumel economic spills of $812,500 dollars, considering an expense average of $65 per person, that are the factors of estimation utilized bu the harbor administration of the island.

Those same tourists would have that to pay a total of $62,500 dollars for the right of non-immigrant. This money, entering directly to the island gos to the treasury of the confederacy, where it is supposed that a part would be returned to Cozumel..

Collection from tourists of cruisers is a matter of controversary the Camera of Representatives has just approved. Tuesday in the island the governor , Félix González said to be opposed, now with the aid of the senators Pedro Joaquín Coldwell and Ludivina Menchaca, while in turn, the municipal president Gustavo Ortega, today in Mexico City is found, also seeking support of the legislators of his party to vote opposed to this collection.

Causing some fear of the cruisers, this Wednesday will demonstrate the need to anchor ships that arrive in the rada because the four spaces of the terminals will be busy.

That ship Norwegian Dream, by being anchored will require that its passengers disembark through smaller ships that can approach the coast called "tenders".

The tourists disembark ferry pier of the island and this will be the first time that a tender is used since last April 25.

It is expected that the streets and the commercial plazas be full and there be a great movement taking guided "tours", although the bad news is that the the climate foretells for this day the possiblity of the arrival of what would be the first intense "Northern" of the season.

Mixing a little good news with bad, the first strong northern usually meand ending hurricane season. That would be a blessing.

The port is closed this morning; we lose one cruiser but a few fly fishermen have opted for a change of date. Jim Wahoo Tours
