Cozumel New Cruise Ship Tax - Committee meeting

The Committee of Cruisers of Cozumel meets to discuss among other things the destiny of the resources that will be obtained in the island when from October they commence to charge the tax of internment to the country for cruise tourists.

During the second ordinary meeting of the Committee of Cruisers of the island of Cozumel, seven specialized subcommittees were created in themes such as security, infrastructure and attention to the tourist.

The meeting was carried out in the parlor of meetings of the Hotel Casa Mexican, in the center of the city, where most sectors, including taxi drivers were represented.

They agreed on the creation of the seven subcommittees specialized in the attention of specific matters related to the market of cruisers, like security, the creation and improvement of infrastructure, the improvement of the attractions that are offered to the visitors and even the urban services that are going to be needed.

During the event, the undersecretary of Federal Tourism, Carolina Cárdenas,, recalled that Cozumel has the main committee of cruisers of the country, therefore is a matter of the most important port for this type of ships in Mexico.

Other ports of Mexico will observe and they will try to apply what is being done in the island to improve their performance in the market of these vacation ships, predicted the official, who also assured that the new tax of $5 for the passengers of these ships, will begin to be applied this next month of October just as is predicted.
